I was going through a bunch of recently acquired range brass and found a few aluminum cases. I got to wondering as to why would aluminum be used. It's not reloadable and it's not much, if any, cheaper to buy in new loaded cartridges. Any theories out there?

I remember the stuff was stupid cheap when it came out, $10.99 / 50 IIRC. I see it now for $13.99 / 50 while you can get the American Eagle brass reloadable for about the same price. I read a review on the Kel-Tec sub2k and they were showing how unstable these cases were with that firearm.

Maybe vendors are just keep it a dollar cheaper than AE knowing that people will buy up everything they sell. That's what I'd do, better margins that way. Your average shooter could care less if it's brass or aluminum. You need a keyboard, internet connection, and terrible grammar to really understand firearms.

This may come as a complete surprise, but NO ammo is manufactured with the intent the brass WILL be reloaded. They would much rather you just bought some more of their ammo......

When I was buying Blazer Al cased ammo it was priced much better than comparable brass cased ammo. Now it seems to be pretty close. I am glad I roll my own...

"...think most SKU's for the Blazer ammo now..." CCI is making both.
Al cases are for those shooters who think their mommy follows them around cleaning up after them.
It's not bad ammo, but not great either. Less expensive to make too.

Bought some 38Spl and 357Mag Blazer Ammo from WSS recently (yeah, I know a shocker that they had stock ;) )

Pretty cheap compared to AE Ammo. However, the ammo was I'd say downloaded. Felt like 75 to 80% power of the comparable AE ammo.

So it was cheaper but lower powered and non-reloadable.

Will go for the AE next time.
