Aluminum for Gas Checks.

Hi there,

To save time and energy, does anyone in Canada know a good source of aluminum sheet for making gas checks? I know that Amerimax is the stuff to buy in the states, but I haven't seen any suppliers for the stuff on is side of the border. There is a Home Depot near, that carries Peak Products Aluminum Flashing. Has anyone tried it? I will anneal if necessary.

I got mine at Canadian Tire and it wooks great. I think it runs about $16. For a roll 18 inches by 36 inches. I could be wrong on the size but it is 12 thousand .

Lowes will order Amerimax/Euramax in for you at the contractors desk or at least they did for me.

Just a final follow up to let you know how I fared. I picked up a 18" X 5' metal repair roll at Canadian Tire. With the taxes added in, it was $20.15. I should be able to get around 3600 gas checks from the roll. It is .012" thick and shears and stamps great.

Most check makers are made to use nominal 0.014 material
If you find your checks are loose, step up to 0.014

I have an oversized shank which makes it necessary to use slightly thinner checks. I was having the checks custom made, but it was a pain for both me and my supplier.
