Am I a Subconious Hater?

I think you must be :D. If you shoot the 40, the 45 is not much more recoil. My $550 Taurus PT1911 is about as accurate as my CZ Shadow. The 45 at 10 meters is not much fun anymore since it shoots into one ragged hole. EVERYONE should have a 45.

You probably meant subconcious, but I think it is probably cost of shooting 45 if not reloading and recoil. People have stated that 45 doesn't have large recoil but I couldn't get used to mine after shooting 9mm and 40. It's not crazy recoil, but it's forceful and different. I bought, then sold a CZ97b as I couldn't shoot it straight. But that's just me, so I really have no use for a 45 as I couldn't master the caliber in that particular pistol, for some reason...

I do regret selling my 45 as I think I could have mastered it with more practice, but I wanted a 357mag instead, which I can shoot straight, strangely.

Naw, you aren't a hater.

You just know that if you do get a .45, especially if it's a 1911 then 1911's in 9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W, 10mm and even the lowly .22 lr will likely follow. :p

NAA.

I went a different way. 9 then skip .40 and go straight to .45acp.

9mm has a slap to the recoil. Sort of like someone slapped a stick against the end of the muzzle. .45acp is more like a sudden shove as though somone was actually holding the end of the muzzle and gave it a hearty shove at you.

To me .40S&W has the same slap as that stick. Just a bigger stick. It's too much the same. So I like the difference between 9mm and .45 because it offers something different.

The most accurate semi auto guns I've shot are also .45acp. I suspect it's got to do with the subsonic nature of most of the standard 230gn loads. That and the very natural and "right" feel of my favourite launch platform for those bullets... the single stack 1911.

I have 40's and 45's and love em both. I used to shoot 9, but ultimately liked the feel of the bigger calibres better. As someone said above - the 1911 platform is unlike any other and is really a rabbit hole that once you start down, who knows where you stop...

.45 is a round I just don't shoot that much for some reason. I've had several over the years (P220, PT1911, USP, Norinco) only one I still have is a SiG 1911 Carry. Very nice pistol and I can shoot it better than any other handgun I have. But I'd rather shoot a 9 or a .40 for some reason, probably the ammo cost is whats stopping me. Even reloading it's still almost 2x the price of 9mm.

Not subconious, not subconcious, but maybe subconscious. :)

Lets just say "Repressed", easier to spell. That was a typo. Is your trader rating 0 or is it a typo?

"Am I a repressed hater"...

I love the Sig platform, so I have a Sig 220 in 45 on order. Have to own a 45... hope I can shoot it better than the CZ97b I had.

Caliber preference is a strange thing. My favorite pistols are .45 (either in acp or Colt). I've had the same in 9mm, didn't care for them. I would rather slap a .22 conversion on my 1911 than shoot a 9mm, the rimfire is more enjoyable for me.

I really like the BHP, I plan on owning one again some day. If it was offered in .45, I'd have one now.

I got the Norinco 1911 .45/1000rd. ammo deal.

After burning through that, shooting the 9 and 40 isn't fun anymore!

And I might as well put my .22's up for adoption.:)

Once you have a good pile of brass built up, shooting .45 becomes much more attractive! Price is the reason I want to add a 9mm to the safe.
