Am I asking too much for my rifle package?

Here's my take;
Mk II FV $220. What I paid at Chilliwack Dart 2 months ago.
Mueller $225.
Bipod $80.
Total is $525, not $595.;) The tax and shipping you paid is your problem.
$525. x .7 = $367.50, let's call it $370. :)
$370 appears a whole lot less than $400

Your price seems ok, but not everyone is looking for a package. I just sold 4-5 guns now and only 1 did I group with a package. All the others were separated from their accessories (if they had any) and sold much faster that way or for the original asking price.

I'd hang in, the price is fair, but someone has to want that package deal. Maybe split it up?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I looked at the ad yesterday but that rifle with that scope doesn't excite me. The value is there but I don't like the stock on that model. I think you could get your money by asking $200 for the rifle with bases and rings and $200 for the scope, plus half of actual shipping for both.

Well I'm back. I woke up to two offers on the package. Both were within $20 of my asking price so I guess I was in the right ballpark. If these fall through ill be splitting it up. Thanks for all the tips guys!

I deal in the used photographic trade.
Studies have been done (applies not only to cameras) that show for mainstream items (which you gun is) that 60% of new is what people will usually be willing to pay.
For many, even though you may be offering a 'good deal' they will say to themselves 'gee..for a couple of hundred more I get a brand new gun with a full warranty".
Also, on a psychological note, $375 sounds like it's in the three hundreds..which is 1/2 of the $600 new for you gun (it's not really...but in appears to be at first glance in the mind).
I bet if you knocked that $25 off the asking price (maybe even boost the shipping a bit) you'll get more bites.

If the deal falls through, I've got $250 for ya for the package. HAHA. Little EE humour.

Lol well thanks for the laughs :)

And as far as people saying 60-70% of new.... Why is it almost every firearm I have looked at recently in the EE has basically been on par with the price of new? And if it's not its not far off at all! Heck look at the 10/22 garbage! A base blued synthetic selling for $350???? That's more than retail... And the guys are getting it. So thanks for the input.

If this were 2 months ago, I would of scooped this up no problem. I bought almost the same package new after having no luck on this site finding anything. Just all about finding the right person at the right time.

Haha well all in all it went successfully, I got a buyer who paid asking price. And actually had 5 people message me about it this morning. Guess it wasnt all that bad of deal!

And I can tell you one thing! The new owner shall love this set up just as I have!
Thanks for all the replies guys!

Sometimes the EE makes a guy shake his head. I had two old 22`s on there. Both were in stock form and relatively good shape, then there was an AD with the same model I had except the guy went pre school on it and rattle canned the complete gun. His asking price was about $30 more than mine and he sold his. I Threw mine back in the safe and will let go locally if someone asks. I guess there is absolutely no respect for the nice woods nowadays. I should have maybe glued some tupperware lids all over on it, I might have had a chance lol

Rule of the free market society:

If nobody is buying, you are asking too much. Kind of how the stock market works.

Meh. Yes and no. That's the basic principle, but you're oversimplifying the "market" concept. You're not addressing market size and fluidity, unique items, and probably most importantly, motivation of both buyer and seller.

e.g. I know my oil is going to be worth a bazillion dollars a barrel in the future. I don't need cash now, so smart money is on making it available for sale at a bazillion dollars a barrel now, and selling whenever a sufficiently motivated buyer comes along.

(in messages where there are lots of replies in the EE, I believe that the replies are the "btt" postings by the OP. I've actually tried posting a reply to someone else's EE and it's been refused. PM was accepted, and in some cases a deal has been made.)

I recognize this doesn't address your query but it seems to me like you're not asking too much. (too much for me, but then I'm trying to get outta debt)

I think it would definitely be nice if we could reply and post comments on others we ads, questions or offers and such.

That would avoid multiple pm's to multiple people asking the same questions. Why is this not allowed on CGN mods?

The stock on that gun is crappy. Dressing it up with some nice accessories won't help that.
If it had a Boyd's stock it would be a $600 package.

Have you ever been on sites that allow that? It is really annoying. Stupid comments, super low balls and peoples "attempt" at humor. No, thanks.

TargetGuy, good you got your asking price but why anyone would pay 90% or more of retail for a used anything is beyond me. That is unless it is no longer available new and in great demand.
If I decide to sell something used close to retail value, I'll use your trick of starting a post on it asking if the price is to high.....good marketing! Its like having EE access and then rebringing up the add multiple times on the active post page so everyone watching sees it repeatedly....good one!!!

Yeah I guess I never thought of that... Would get kinda annoying I suppose!

And hawk-i.... That was not my intention. But thanks for even your input :)
And by the way, IF that WAS my intention, why would I post a thread on it and risk having negative comments on my pricing? Would that not hurt my sale? I have no control over what other people post in this thread.
