Or is there no easy way to get a CZ 22lr action on it's own? I intend to build a target rifle with my own chassis, but don't feel like having a stock take up space in my storage, plus potential cost savings?

Whats the best way to go about this here? It seems like every 457 is atleast 600$ now and not much on the used market (not surprised)

Would also be interested in a Bargara action, or even 10-22 if I could easily get a match barrel and somehow run it bolt-style?

I have no interest in semi autos.

If you are going to go to the trouble of building a custom rifle at least start with a good action.

What's the end goal of the build?

Since when are Cz's "not" good actions?

My goal is to shoot 50-200y with Rimfire. 1moa at 100 would be excellent - i know this will be more about ammo than anything else.

If you want to go down the customized 22lr route, I suggest you start with Rem700 SA footprint, rather than CZ457 or Bargara 14-r or Tikka T1x. It opens a whole new world to chassis.

different people have different definition of "good". Some expenditures are conspicuous rather than functional based. This is my confession. :)

It's not that it can't be done. It's just not very economical to build a full custom on something like a CZ or Tikka. By the time you rebarrel, do some trigger work, put it in a chassis and get it to feed and eject properly - you are at $3,000.

If one just wanted something that shot decent, a stock Bergara would do just as well, until you decided you need to move up to something like a Vudoo, Rimx or something of that ilk.

That's why I'm here asking. What else is there for options in Canada then?

I wouldn't put the Bergara in that category. It's threaded, there are pre-fits available and the stock barrels seem to be performers.

I would agree. The stock Bergaras I have seen shoot pretty well. If you get a good one they will run right with a Vudoo.

Right now, the best value I see is a Bergara B14R in the factory stock. Barrelled actions can be had, also. It is a Rem 700 SA pattern so lots of chassis choices and trigger upgrades available. If you didn't like it, it would be any easy sell, as well as any of the parts or chassis associated with that pattern.

1 moa and 10/22 doesn't go together. Since buying my Anschutz my Target 10/22 has not seen the range.

Honestly I would see if you can find a Anschutz 64. Mine was only 600$.

Wow. Quick Google says they are 1600$ and sold out!

I've seen some impressive 10/22 results in the forums with custom barrels here but i just don't want a semi. So dull for me.

Those are 1100$ and out of stock, right?

I bought it 3 months ago for 650$ shipped. Deals are out there. Plus has the 8oz trigger. Personally it be cheaper to grab something that you don't need to swap a barrel or trigger.

Saturday we had a F class shoot in minus 10 and windy, I came out 1st overall.

Al had a custom Lee No4 in 22LR, with home made alum chassi that did quite well at 50yards. Beating me by 2 points.

So, one might have to wait a while for a backorder. It's a long winter, not much else to do.
There is one on the Equipment Exchange, complete for $1,300 if it isn't gone already.

A used Anschutz would be good choice for a target rifle also. Depends what the OP wants.

The Bergara B14r runs around $1500.00 plus taxes.
It is a Rem 700 footprint so there are a lot of stock/chassis/trigger options available.
They are at a good price point.
There are a couple known issues with bolt breakage and the ejector coming loose.
I have one and other then the ejector issue (A quick fix) I have been happy with it.

For higher end there is also the Ultimatum Deuce. This can be bought as a receiver only or as a barrelled action with an IBI match barrel. An Ultimatum receiver is around $1500.00........A barrelled action with an IBI barrel runs around $2300.00-ish depending on what barrel you pick.
