Am I truly THAT effing weird? (one man's rant)

I've put about 200 rounds through my savage with Accu-trigger and have never had an issue. I've intentionally set the safety mechanism just to see how it worked, but never had it happen when out hunting or on the bench. Took a bit to get used to I guess, but I really have no feelings about it either way. If I were you I would try a Tikka. It's my favourite trigger so far.

I guess if the center blade bothers you I would just remove it as I see it as unnecessary.

Hadn't tried an accutrigger until last year. Then I bought a Salvage. Then another, then another. Didn't have a problem with the triggers from the get go I have no problem feeling the bit of take up on the tab and getting the thing to go off when I want especially once adjusting them down to where I like them. Felt a little different at first but studying it and dicking around it was like OK kinda silly but I see what they're doing. Then never really thought about it again. And, the best groups I've ever shot were with my model 12 albeit with the target AT which is quite a bit more refined than the standard AT. Like the standard AT for a hunting rifle just fine too and even for playing around on the bench at long range.
 
Training wheel trigger is a good description. I have never owned one, but heard good things about the vanguard also. Since the new ones are out, it would be a good bet that a first gen would be available for the $500 price you mentioned. Another good rifle would be a used Husky from tradex.
 
what kind of budget have you got in mind??

check through the supporting dealers used inventory, you'll likely see more fair market prices then the EE, however some supporting dealers are using the EE as a price guide and pricing used according to what's listed on the EE lol.

Buy low, scratch, drop, shoot, sell high on cgn, profit pays for ammo...........it's like having a CGN shooting sponsorship........
 
The EE is not about fair market value... it is about supply and demand... "availability" & "I want..." and we are all enablers...
 
Regarding the surplus swedes...

Personally I like the rifles but I have found some Swedish hunters not speaking well of them in their hunting forums.

I have never heard of a safety issue on the ones in Canada through.

With the Tapco stock to make it all tacticool? OH CAN I???? Wait... I have a Cz858 that's far more accurate. And I can take it shooting again. I think.

Two-stage military triggers don't have that stupid ####ing blade in the middle. I like my LE trigger, just not the rather loose groups.

Under $500 all in. I have an extra scope sitting here, so that's not a big issue, and a stockpile of .308, no issue there either.

I have seen 3 Winchester 308 rifles for sale this week for less then your budget, blued steel and wooden stocks, you just have to look outside of the cgn shoebox.......

Hmm. I currently own 4 rimfire Savages and one centerfire. All have the accutrigger. While I prefer triggers that are crisp with no blade in the middle I have no issues with using the accutrigger. I have also not experienced this internal safety that you speak about. Maybe I just haven't experienced it before but I'm pretty sure I've done what you describe and I didn't have to throw the bolt.

That being said there are some decent deals in the EE if you look long enough. I've bought a Browning X Bolt in .308 for $500 shipped.
 
Just checked Donovan's add..........

Winchester model 70, 308 with 3-9x40 scope..............$450.00, was updated as sold...........

but I have a few more rocks I can roll over...........

I think if he listed it on here he could have doubled his money..............lol
 
I like my rem 783 trigger. Its goofy and ugly but it works well on an inexpensive rifle. I am impressed with the idea of an inexpensive system that works well without mods. I would never buy a cheap gun and upgrade the trigger.
