Amazing performance from 20 gauge Remington Accutip slug

I been using them in my Benelli M2 for past few years, so far 4 bucks and 1 doe were taken down, closest was 90 meters and furthest was 164 meters, these little slugs are amazing

Don't argue with the gun, just feed it what it likes.I want to try some handloaded Hammerhead slugs reloaded in my son's Savage 12ga slug gun.

With my 220 and 2 3/4" accutips I shoot 1" groups at 100 yards. Switch to 3" and groups open up to 3" or so.

Yes, I never tried the accu tips in 2 3/4 but I bet they would work well. I tried accu tip and remington barnes both in 3" and they were just ok. Then I tried barnes 2 3/4 and they worked so well I stopped there. I was shooting at 200 yards and a five shot group was 1 1/4" vertical spread and about 5" horizontal... reason being I had some gusting crosswind. The 3" shells shot round shaped groups 6" When I try at 100 yards if I ever get a calm day I bet it will be one ragged hole.
These new slug guns and ammo are amazing.. just watch your wind drift if you hunt a field on a windy day! May be better to hunt the bush.

I've only tried Accutips (2 3/4 n 3") and Hornady SST 2 3/4 n 3" out of my Savage 220. Hunt with the 3"accu tips as they gave bit better groups.

Have shot 2 nice bucks and 2 coyotes with it. Both bucks I heart shot under 50 yards and they ran like I missed out of sight (found both within 100 yards) bullet exited and gave excellent blood trail.

Both coyotes I drilled behind the shoulder at 125 yards and the latest at about 30yards. They didnt take another step and big exit hole.

Today the wind was calm so I went to the 100 yd range. Seems these accu tip really do shoot the best. I got 1 3/4 with them and the barnes I thought were so good only got 2 3/4" group. However I think something is up with my shooting or my gun. Almost all my groups have horizontal dispersion but vertical is extremely good. The 1 3/4 group was actually a straight across line of three shots that only varied 3/8" vertically.

I've read that when bench shooting slug guns or other low velocity rounds your supposed to hold the forend of the stock firmly down and back into your shoulder.. so I did that however I bet I'm torquing it sideways when the gun recoils. Thought of that after of course, will try my usual rifle technique next time. Or maybe its bedding issues.

Expensive practice! I wish they'd let us hunt with certain straight walled rifle cartridges instead like they are starting in some of the former shotgun zones in the US. As a matter of fact I think I will write the OFAH about it, perhaps they would lobby the MNR on that issue.

Doubtful, everyone seems to own one or more than one 12g shotgun, personally I’ll only ever own a 12g. It does it all and I have no need for any other caliber in a shotgun, I’m sure I’m not the only one out there that feel the same.

I'm the exact opposite, I've got a 12ga for the occasional duck hunt or round of clays at the range, but they're few and far between.

95% of my time with a shotgun time i have a 20ga, I just find it much nicer to carry for the day compared to a big clunky 12ga.

That's what I have - a model 220. With anything but those Accutips, accuracy is minute of deer, although the Hornady's aren't bad. But what blew me away was the way that bullet performed. The only time I had seen something similar (but much more drastic) was when my son shot a small doe with his 300 RUM and a 180 gr. at about 50 yards. That was scary! I've gotten several through the heart and/or lungs, but this time, it sprayed blood in a 10-15 foot semi-circle. Let's just say I am frikkin' amazed. I would not have expected that out of my 45-70 or 308, maybe my 300 WM.
Mine was exactly the same way. No other brand came close to the Accutips.

Do you guys get pass throughs on deer with accu tips? I was researching it on the net and a lot of guys say it often stops under the off side hide.. some complain about poor terminal performance. Then however there is a number that say they they work great (as most are saying in this thread). I really want something that leaves an exit hole and major blood trails.
