Primer is /was a common European size .254"/ 6.45mm
Used in shotgun shells ( thin cup) and Rifle Brass, both BP and Smokeless, the best example is the 7.62x54R Mosin Nagant Cartridge, which used this size

Even though they have anvils, they can still be used to reload berdan 7.62x54 after the anvils are pulled. I've done this as an experiment reloading small pistol berdan brass with boxer small primers after pulling the anvil... (it worked so can be used as an expedient).
I've got some CIL No. 4B primers that look like those. I saved spent primers from Imperial shot shells (they are shorter than todays primers) & punched the primer out of the cup, then push the 4B primer into the cup.
