Ambush, 1964, parts I and II

Looks like in the Malayan Emergency (or maybe the early years of Vietnam if those are Aussie troops).

Love those FN's, Sterlings, and converted BREN's!!!

It's obviously staged for the cameras, but looks interesting.

I believe it is the Malayan Emergency, or Konfrontasi. It seems that one of the enemy soldiers had a bubba LE in one of the scenes. It was interesting to see the Westland Whirlwind in action. The HMCS Bonaventure started out using a version (HO4S-3) "Pedro". They were very basic but reliable helos from what I read.

Anyone notice the m16? It was around 5:05 or so and it was just a quick flash !

In the early years of the Malayan Emergency the enemy were using pretty much anything they could cobble together to shoot. One arm apparently used was an M1911A1 pistol grafted into a wooden shoulder stock with a jury rigged auxilliary trigger. Twelve gauge shotguns were used by the Commonwealth forces, as well as M1 carbines. Not sure if they used M2 carbines. I would say that would be a reasonable bet. In this movie, I spotted two combat pump action shotguns. One looked like a Winchester model 12, the other one looked like a Remington 870 with 18" barrel & grooved forend. Seems to be from the later stage of the Malay Emergency rather than the opening stages.

The Malayan Emergency was over in 1960. The announcer stated the film was a re-creation of events in January, 1964. Making this movie one of events during the Konfrontasi with Indonesia.
