American Coot - fish pond - friend or foe ?

Mud hens rank right in there with hyenas and mosquitoes..imho the earth would do just fine without them!
 
Coots are no problem in a fish pond. I like to watch them in ours. But Cormorants can clean you out in short order. And Herons are pretty efficient fish eaters too. the only two Manitoba predators that I'd suggest that you watch for.
