I still have 10 boxs left

Any decent light loads for my ar?

IIRC Federal owns L.C. ???
Yes the brass you have is NATO spec. Lake City made in 2004, and I would assume the ammo is NATO spec. as well if they used the brass and crimped in the primer.
Yes the brass is good for reloading, after you take out the primer crimp.

It's far more likely that Federal is making the brass for Lake City. The primer crimp can be swaged out or chamfered out. Either way, it's got to go. Then reload 'em.

OK, Maybe I can help.

The US Government owns the Lake City plant. ATK, Federal's parent company currently have the contract to run the plant and produce a variety of ammo on it's tooling for Uncle Sam.

When there government contracts are fulfilled, they can use the tooling to make brass for there civilian lines. Winchester held the contract for years before ATK took it over, and they also produced most of there .223 Rem brass on LC tooling.

It's easier to use a countersink bit in a hand drill to remove the crimps around the primers, after punching out the primer of course.
The AE brass is nice stuff, very consistant in weight and concentricity, great for reloading. bearhunter

Unless it was sold as 5.56mm, it's 223. 223 with crimped primers perhaps, but Federal doesn't sell 5.56mm spec ammo as 223 Remington. There was lots of this ammo around last year.
