American Jeep Vs German Kubelwagen

It's too bad they didn't take them off road for their test...

And the Kübel would have spanked the jeep all the way around the course. Bruce Crompton certainly has all the cool toys and is a master of promotion and showmanship, I give him that.

My late Panzer Grenadier FIL told me that his favoutite weapons were the MG 34 and the Kubelwagon. Why? "Because when you needed them, they worked!"

The Kubelwagon got him out of the Stalingrad encirclement, only to be captured by partisans, turned over to the Red Army and shipped to Siberia.

Good choice my man, I could not say it better...................as for value the little Kübel could set you back 65K USD.

And it’s really just an air cooled Volkswagen Bug. And rare because there aren’t a lot kicking around of the WW2 ride.

I've never seen a Kublewagen. Are they as easy to work on as a Jeep?

I have had the opportunity to work on a WW2 era Jeep, crazy simple. Shocks held on with cotter pins. Everything was made to be changed quickly. I found it interesting on how it was made to be fixed quickly.

I know the VW are simple as well just not sure if as user friendly in the field.

There was a shop in Vancouver that made replica Kublewagens and Porsche 356. don't know if they are still around.
.... "Intermerica" (Intermecanica?? ) if I recall, and my spelling could be a bit off. Not sure if they're still around though. They were just off Main St by False Creek. Quebec St perhaps? Nice product and you could buy/build bit by bit. .... David K
