American made Sig 226 9MM quality

I have no problem with mines. They both work perfectly. Super accurate pistol. One of the best stock trigger (*SRT) out there no doubt.

US made sig.

German made Sig.

I did not notice a accuracy difference. The barrels looks like they are made at the same place. Are they? Because they look exactly the same.

What grip is that on the second Sig?

German SIGs look abit nicer but are no better then the US ones. I worked on hundreds of german and US SIGs and know this first hand.

Also SIG USA fixed some of the issue with the older German SIGs

Over 8000 rounds of .40 through my 226 and only had to replace the recoil spring as it was causing light primer strikes. Need to replace the barrel soon as the rifling is getting faint...other than that, no issues.

8000 rounds and you need to replace your barrel?
Are you using factory ammo or reloads (this is about your light primer strikes)

I'm kinda of a curious kind.....lol
What do they fix ?
(oh please don't start with the internal extractor....)

-one piece SS slide with solid fp retaining pin, old two piece slides had issues with the fp retaining pins snapping
-rail
-upgraded trigger bar spring
-simpler hammer strut
-SIG USA brought you the E2 and SRT
-easy to use take down lever
-Nitron finish
-MEC GAR mags are a great improvement over older SIG mags that had weaker springs.
-MIMs parts have never caused a issue even though I was very very skeptical about MIMs
-i have never seen a issue with with external extractors and I have service hundreds of SIGs a year

I am a factory Cert SIG armorer in case your wondering ;)

I put Pet and "i work on hundreds of SIGs" together before you mention armorer.
Still i can enjoy more a 20 year old P6/226 without all the improvements from Exeter.
Few points:
MEC GAR SIG branded were courtesy of JP Sauer. Cohan replace them with the new garbage made in US (new style all metal)
Springs are just replacement parts (i know CF like to save money and SIG US supplied guns with after market springs to save cost - main, hammer and recoil springs)
I had 2 take down levers replaced by FN ......not better just cheaper MIM
I never seen internal extractors fails unless people "tune" them.
The only real difference between the two pistols is the human input.
While from Exeter they leave with no magazines, less recoil spring and rod (remember the plastic ones) i heard from a store they got one with no hammer.....all the pistols from Germany they get to be assembled, fine tuned and fired before they leave the factory.
Also i love the americans when it comes to SIGs: they all hated the heavier SS slide but they are all adding SS guide rods as the new slide it is too light....
People should get real and realize, these are combat pistols not bullseye.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Never tuned any of our extractors and I agree the plastic guide rods did indeed sucked ballz :p Its sad their not using Mec Gar any more :( once you get all the cosmo out of them they are fantastic mags. SIG did have a bad batch of take down levers and screwed up big on their new locking blocks, but sorted out the problem when we informed them. My biggest issue is the multiple slide and extractor types, making a mix fleet of SIG a PITA to order parts for.

German pistols are just plain cool (and overpriced) :)

Quoted for truth.
The job I used to have, we were issued P226s. I shot thousands of rounds through my issued U.S. made P226, the people I worked with shot thousands of rounds through their U.S. made SIGs and I am still impressed by it reliability. It is an amazing pistol. Currently, I own both U.S. and German made SIGs and have seen no real difference in reliability or workmanship.
