I was cruising through the shortmags.org site and was looking through their "for sale" section and could'nt believe the prices these guys are paying for used rifles. If that was up here in Canada I would expect it to be in the $1400-1600 range for a Mark V. I wish we had their prices:rolleyes:

Selling for a friend! Please e-mail me on this. This is what he had to say on this gun:

As you know this gun is like new . It is WBY MKV Deluxe Varmintmaster, 26in barrel, 6 lug bolt, made in Japan. This thing looks like it just came out of the box. I have never fired it, but it may have been fired by previous owner. Can not say for sure. Also it has Buehler mounts and rings and a 12X Redfield with adj. objective. I will sell complete setup for 800 or rifle only for 700--- plus ship.

No kiddin... one of the few things I miss since moving to Canada. Price, and selection both are terrible in Canada.

It's balanced in other ways. Certain firearms are much much cheaper here. Specifically M1 Garands, M1 carbine, WW2 handguns, milsurp of all sorts (look at the great prices at Marstar).

NEW sporting arms are more excpensive. And now that the dollar is worth .90 cents, there's really no reason for huge prices. Except (presumably) lack of supply.

"...lack of supply..." Lack of a huge market, plus taxes, duty, licence costs etc, etc. The exchange rate is only a small part of prices here.
