Americans goose hunting in Saskatchewan?

I will stand dead against allowing American freelancers up here without guides / outfitters. With the MB limit being a 3 day possession I am always amazed how guys manage to spend 10 days straight (some but not all) hunting morning and night. No one and I repeat no one is legally or properly utilizing that number of birds. In my area we are constantly finding bird dumps of 50 plus whole birds. And as far as gifts etc., why do we allow gifts as sufficient for shooting birds but we require outfitters for big game. Twice this fall I was in a field setting up early in the am, and had American free lancers show up. I can 100 percent guarantee they did not have permission and got a sob story about how far they had travel led etc and asked me to leave my field so they could hunt due to their hardships. I'LL get off my soapbox but I challenge any Canadian to go into the US and ask permission to hunt with a small gift in your hand. You will be summarily laughed at.

They don't need guides at present, but there's talk of changing that. I don't know who's worse, the Americans or the outfitters. At least you are getting asked.

The fellas I shoot with every August usually have a pallet full of horror stories concerning Alberta hunting guides in mostly the central part of this province on predominanatly private farmland.

Shooting game from vehicles, shooting after last light, baiting game, lying to landowners, trying to bribe witnesses with thousands of dollars, etc.

The problem with this is that these rich americans goose hunters is they pay the farmers with new $1000 BBQ's, new Benelli shotguns and all sorts of luxuries. Then you go and ask to hunt elk on the same parcel of land they expect some sort of payment. In the next few generations rich farmers will control most of the land and have their rich american friends over to hunt. I'm quite worried about the future for my kids and the generations after that.
If you wanna go and shoot geese do it in your own country. Hell most of them don't even eat them...just shot em and give em away.

I wouldn't sweat the Americans, soon the Chinese will own all the farmland in SK anyhow.

As a die hard waterfowler, I prefer Americans and American outfitters in the area over local outfitters. Our local outfitter is the biggest two faced weasel you'd ever meet who thinks he owns every stitch of land between Alberta and Manitoba. His antics are starting to grow tiresome and locals are starting to get sick of him. The American guide who's nearby? Just a stand up fellow you can actually have a conversation with, and actually respects other hunters in the area.

Whomever might you mean?? ;)

Don't answer that, I already know!!
