Maybe we should start another thread, but which do you think is the worst show for this?

I vote Drury Outdoors, that deer hunting / team competition. I find it revolting. Hank Parker 3D has gotta be a close 2nd - seems more of a self-esteem building venue for his sons.

Never could figure why the "star" of the segment, after just touching of his 300 magnum or honkin' big 12 gauge 3-1/2-incher at some critter, which has obviously been hit dead centre ... has to excitedly WHISPER, in very hushed tones to the camera man .... both of whom have been deafened by the roar of the gun ! What do they think, that the deer or turkey they just shot is going to hear them talking ????

Another favourite: Buddy shoots a deer. The scene is him looking for his deer, POV is from the dead deer. "Hmm... blood here... broken twig... OOH! OHH! There he is! WooHoo!" as the idiot runs towards the camera.

I swear, if you do well acting in a hunting show, they move you up to pr0n.

I just finished watching some jim shockey videos that I borrowed from a friend, and there was some sections where they were filming hunts with shockeys customers, and the guides were really irritating.. they were ordering the hunters around, telling them where to step, when to shoot, it was brutal.... if any guide treated me the way those guys were treating their customers I would lose it.
and the post shot celebrations made me want to puke

I saw one of those shows on Wild TV, buddy shoots a 3x3 elk at close range with a stick bow and then procedes to lose it on camera. Jumping and shouting like a sugared up ten year old. And he's supposed to be the guide! They should have edited that part so not to make the host/guide look like a dink. When I shoot a big game animal it's all business until the work is done then celebrate later with backstraps and beer.

tv is tv IMHO. everything is exagerated. some shows are good and some are stupid. did anyone catch canada in the rough's , thomas pigeon's explanation to bill c-68? "it's raised the hackles of "some" of the firearms owning community, but the governemnt is trying to keep guns out of the hands of undesirables and as gun owners that's our responsibility" he says.

I am mystified as to why anyone would watch some of those stupid "hunting" shows. Some idiot whispering into a camera as if he was afraid to wake his bossy wife up. Give me a break.:slap:

I lived in NJ for a couple of years in the late 90's. It was common to see 20 or 30 deer in a farmer's pasture. There were roadkills everywhere! IIRC there wasn't a limit on the # of deer you could harvest in certain area's. The first deer you killed had to be a doe also. The # of hunters there is steadily declining, & the deer populations are increasing. Here in Ontario, you could purchase up to 4 additional tags in some WMU's. One deer is enough for me & the wife :).

Reportedly more road kills every year in Pennsylvania than are deer killed by legal hunting harvest in Ontario.

More deer in Texas than there are people living in Saskatchewan.

I had tags for 9 deer last year in Alberta. My buddy filled 14 one year in Alberta and Saskatchewan. There are lots of tags out there, you have to apply for some draws and sometimes travel, but they are out there.
