How many rounds of 7.62 were in those green plastic battle packs they use to issue us?

battle packs of SA surplus arre 7 boxes of 20 = 140 rnds, in sealed rubber type tan pack

The green packs are 200 rd The tan are 140 rd.

SA surplus is not issued in Canada, its sold in retail stores.

Well if you mean Bandoleers, that wound be 60 rounds. 2 stripper clips of 5 rounds each for each pocket and 6 pockets.

Still later on once Canada was supplying the US with ammunition for Vietnam they went to American style cotton bandoleers I believe.

I recall the ones we had in the 80's being more of a dark green colour. How many years were these produced? (and where do I get some?)

Agreed they were more OD in colour, maybe this picture is a bit off because of the background. I recall they were a bit greasy to the touch also

Greasy/oily ... that's right! But now that I've thought about it - I only recall getting tracer issued in these bandoleers. Ball came in cloth bandoleers (with the black safety pins) or cardboard boxes in ammo cans - sometimes on stripper clips but more usually in "eggcrates".

Yes, I'm talking about 6 pocket cloth bandoleers like the American ones that were being produced for the US War effort, and then continued to be produced for Canadian Military use from what I've read.
