Ammo battle packs

How many rounds of 7.62 were in those green plastic battle packs they use to issue us?

Well if you mean Bandoleers, that wound be 60 rounds. 2 stripper clips of 5 rounds each for each pocket and 6 pockets. :)

Still later on once Canada was supplying the US with ammunition for Vietnam they went to American style cotton bandoleers I believe. :)

Yes thats the ones .Thanks Dimitri:)

Agreed they were more OD in colour, maybe this picture is a bit off because of the background. I recall they were a bit greasy to the touch also

Greasy/oily ... that's right! But now that I've thought about it - I only recall getting tracer issued in these bandoleers. Ball came in cloth bandoleers (with the black safety pins) or cardboard boxes in ammo cans - sometimes on stripper clips but more usually in "eggcrates".

Huh? The 6 pouch bandoleer was the issue in the 60's to CF

Yes, I'm talking about 6 pocket cloth bandoleers like the American ones that were being produced for the US War effort, and then continued to be produced for Canadian Military use from what I've read.

A good site about 7.62mm NATO stripper clips, bandoleers and the like can be found here:
