Ammo carriers,what do you use?

I went onto the Tactical Response Gear site and looked at a few rigs they have including the original SOE that inspired the micro-rig. The description for the original shell carrier (much like that 6shell panel there) said that guys were buying them at first and with para-cord attaching them to the gromet in the bottom of most Molle AR mag pouches. Probably what i'll end up doing with a chest rig of some sort. That way you've got the added versatility of still having the AR pouch, and a rig you can fully customize whenever.

At one time I used old M14 single mag pouches with web strap sewen in them ,so I just had to pull them up to rase the shells, it kind of work.

But ,this is what you're talking about?

No, it is actually an 8 round "pull out tray" that fits inside an AR pouch with elastic shell loops. It has a nylon pull-loop, so open the AR pouch, pull out 8-rounds on a "tray". They have a whole system of stuff that works together.

You lost me on that last one. How does the semi-auto equate to a rifle?

Sorry, the evolution of the above is that a mag fed shotgun is a step up from tube fed(debatable IMO). The next step up would be a mag fed semi auto shotgun. At which point a mag fed semi auto rifle should have been the first choice.

Gotcha. And I agree with your (debatable IMO) as well. Pretty hard to top up a magfed behind cover compared to a mag tube. And the combat 11-87's I've seen in a good shooter's hand having the reloading setup installed to use the speed loader tubes work very slick. If you have a long mag hanging out of the bottom you probably have to shoot "gangsta style" if prone as well!:p

Right, precisely why I a mag fed shotgun is a non starter.

Noone complains about their inability to top up a mag fed rifle or shotgun, so why should a shotgun be any different? As for shooting prone, unless you're taking about something in the 10 round Saiga magazine length class that we can't own here anyway, it's no worse than a VZ or AK mag.

A mag fed semi auto rifle offers far greater benefits than a shotgun, namely greater range, greater precision and less recoil. The mag fed semi auto shotgun is doable, but the mag fed pump is an abortion. Anything over five rounds and the magazine becomes very cumbersome and as mentioned eliminates the possibility of going prone. Again, going prone with a mag fed pump introduces the difficult/near impossible task of working the action. Five round magazines are a loss when a standard pump gun runs 8/9 rounds without the added weight and bulk. A semi auto shotgun runs 5 rounds in the tube so the only benefit of a magazine is rapid reloads. As JasonS posted above, if you run the speed sticks/tech loader setup on a standard shotgun you're no slower(quite possibly faster) than a mag fed shotgun.

Our retarded laws aside, the 10 round Saiga style semi autos still have nothing on a semi auto rifle running 30 rounds. I agree that for competitions where a shotgun is required, the Saiga is the way to go. Outside of the competition arena the shotgun has limited uses where it is as effective as a rifle. Shotguns excel at bird hunting, breaching, and shooting clays.

Does anyone have any experience bringing these up from the US? Im thinking of ordering one from Tactical Response, any feedback appreciated.

They're great to deal with. If it's on their website, it's in stock. They usually ship same day.

Pick the USPS shipping option. UPS charges a $35 "brokerage" fee on parcels from the US.
