Ammo cost differnce?

I'm not much of a pistol guy but I've been watching to much Gun's & Ammo and decided I need a S&W M&P. :D

Is there a signifigant cost between factory target ammo 9mm/40S&W/45ACP???


This pistol would likely see less than 200rds a month and I would start to reload as soon as I had burned through enough ammo to supply a decent amount of brass.
 
Yes there is. At the store i buy my ammo from 9mm is 15.99, .40s&w is 20.99 and .45acp is 24.99. If you dont plan on reloading then just stick with the 9mm because its more then accurate enough and still has enough recoil to make it fun.
 
Very rough numbers;

9mm $300
40 $400
45 $460

Price is for 1000 American Eagle. Other brands might be cheaper but the relative proportion of costs are about the same. You can get commercial re-load 9mm for $200, 45 for $360.
 
When I get, my M&P I will probably use manufactured ammo for the first while then get into commercial reloads.

Wolf Bullets seems to have pretty decent prices

When at the range, hang around the pistol guys and ask if they pick up their brass. If not, offer to sweep-up after them. In my club, 9mm is most popular, then 40 followed by 45.
 
I've been buying reloads for the last while, hopefully will reload myself some time.
For what its worth, my purchase price for the reloads has been:
9mm: $ .27 each
40 S&W: $ .30 each
45 ACP: $ .36 each
 
Do you guys know the best place to buy 9mm 1000 rnds? I am in Southern Ontario and the best price I have right now is A&E for $297.00 to my door.

If this price is for 1000 rounds of factory American Eagle ammo landed at your door then you'd better order it and let me know who is selling it for that!!!:D
