Ammo famine coming like the old days?

I heard the same rumor. With the massive order of .45 and .223 by the US government, supplies will be scarce in 2013. I also heard there are new restrictions coming regarding the export of US made ammunition... meaning less will be imported into Canada. This was all hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt... could have just been the guy at the counter trying to get me to buy more rounds...

Who in the US gov is ordering massive amounts of .45? Government 5.56 consumption should be significantly lower than last year or the year before considering the defense budget and the reduction of troops overseas and training for deployment.

Maybe I should change the header to Norinco Ammo Famine. Naa. Hey Geologist how come no great photos lately of your awesome travel places. Miss em

it wasn't the military...it was the government...big difference, the DHS ordered the .223 among others ...over a billion rounds all together...not the military..the government and we should all ask ourselves why?

Zombies man. It's all because of the Zombies.

In all seriousness I wonder if it has to do with replacing old ammo stock that has " expired " as far as they are concerned. Kinda like how the stock pile tires and sell them as surplus after 3 years before they reach the 5 year manufacture expiry date.

Now why would you post that (post 4&5)on a public forum if you thought there may be an issue????? Not the smartest thing ive seen lately!

Whatever man. Nobody is out to cause CanAm problems. I've shopped there for years. That said, if it is breaking the rules, then its breaking the rules. If everyone has a code of silence about everything it makes all of us look like a bunch of rule breaking dicks and invites scrutiny. Im sure there arent canada post grand inquisitors prowling the interweb searching for any sign of naughtiness. Thats kind of paranoid.

Now that all said, why is any section of gunnutz not password protected. Just logged out and tested it. Some areas are, some are not (including the dealer forums). Given the nature of questions and comments on a gun forum and given that you have to register to post snyways, why not havd it all protected?

I work for CP in the parcel area. No we do not ship ammo. If it doesn't have fragile written on the box, expect that the box may see a few tosses in its life. Knowing that these packages are going through il be sure to set any heavy ones down lightly. I really don't need to get shot while at work....

Im sure everyone concerned will be happier if you assume all packages contain nitro-glycerin and you avoid tossing our packages, haha!

I don't see any .45 being purchased, maybe you are thinking of the .40, check the link you posted. So who in the US government is ordering massive amounts of .45?

you sure your ammo came by CP? mine arrived today by a delivery agent for canpar, that does rural deliveries

I know canam ships canpar...

This. I wonder if CanPar transfers to CP sometimes for last mile? It would answer a few questions on here for certain.

If there was a problem with a shipment received and it did come Canada Post you would be far better off mentioning this kind of thing discretely between yourself and Canada Ammo. Sometimes mistakes happen, know one is perfect and these situations are best dealt with in a mature appropriate manner.

We are all posting on a Canada firearms forum. A hobby/topic that is very sensitive with some government officials, the public and a red hot topic for the media. And as has been mentioned, not all parts of the forum are secure and accessible by people with less than good intentions when it comes to supporting our hobby or the reputable dealers that support us in our hobbies. So a little discretion goes a long way in preserving what we value as a group.
