So I just bought a used, rifled barelled 12G, Remi for a hog hunting trip next spring. Its got a red-dot scope which I want to sight in. I picked up four boxes of cheap Remington rifled slugs ( 7/8 oz ) that I figured would be good at sighting in at 100m. However, on the box it reccommends that these rounds are best through a smooth bore shotgun.
1. Is this ammo still ok for sighting in with a rifled barell?
2. Are sabots more appropriate ?
3. For shooting hogs, what is the opinion on slug loads ? 2.75 or 3" ?
thanks
