Hey all, recently picked up a Savage Mk II FV-SR to use for some plinking at the range and maybe grouse in the fall. Looking to shoot some groups and wondering what ammo you all have had good luck with. Currently have Some Eley Force, Eley Club, Eley Benchrest Outlaw, CCI Blazer, CCI Mini Mag, CCI Standard Velocity, and Norma Tac 22.

I just did some quick testing with my CZ452 and all the ammo I had on hand. Not extensive testing but the best for me was SK rifle match followed closely by Norma Tac 22 then Eley, I can't remember of the top of my head which one. Blazer was a bit better than CCI std velocity. I didn't shoot Mini Mag yet. SK was just over .5" at 50yds and the Norma .6"

I have had two, my previous one loved S&B standard velocity. I finally found some on sale at Cabela's last week, going to try it in the current rifle on Monday. My current one doesn't like the TAC 22 stuff at all, so will be curious what results you see.

Just grabbed some S&B Canadian Match Standard Velocity, I will test that with the rest of my ammo. Also grabbed Hornady Varmint Express. Should be a fun day

I'd shoot at least half a box of each you have, and clean at least the chamber and a dry patch thru the barrel between each set. That way the lube from one won't carry onto the next. If you can have a spotter record hits in sequence, or do it yourself. A spotter will ID your consistency. DIY will 'break your hold' so each shot is a 'new day' tho the barrel will be warmer than a 'cold shot'. Something to learn from either method.
OR use jaia's "grid" with one shot per POA to develop precision.

CCI standard velocity is all I use - some days the groups are excellent other days they are not - so I try not to split hairs buying different brands and stick to CCI-SV

For run of the mill accurate .22lr my one always shoots cci mini mags and federal American Eagle really decent, can head shoot hares at 50y with some sort of improvised rest. Hood of the truck or limb of a tree etc, 1/2”-3/4” groups at 50y so plenty accurate enough for hunting small game and range use.

I'm planning on shooting 10rds before shooting 2x 5rd groups with each ammo. Thanks for the input!

I have a Savage mark 2 FV-SR, it shoots Center-X fairly well, in the 1/2"-3/4" at 50m very easily and has shot a 6" group at 300m -300m is about 16.5MIL@20C+

At 50 and 100 it does similarly with SK rifle match and RWS match, CCI SV is close but a pain as you need to clean the waxy lube out of the chamber for it to run flawless.

I have the MK2 TRR-SR, so a bit longer barrel. With a bipod and rear bag, 3-9X40 rim fire scope. (I need a better scope that would help a bit more...)

I just did some testing with Lapua Center-X, 1/2" @50m easily(albeit pushing almost $25/box). It opens up a bit more with SK rifle match and RWS Target rifle(orange box), but not much, still could be my scope and eyes.
Bottom end of testing I did(high end) CCI Blazer, CCI mini-mag 40gr and then CCI SV with about 3/4" consistently.....All this @ 50m
