Looking to stock brass cased ammo. What between prvi ppu VS ruag (geco) new european production would you choose for sks and vz58? And why? I dont know much about ruag would be great to have reviews

I've shot a lot of Privi in other calibers and was happy with it.Also reloaded 6.5x55 Privi. Am also curious about the Geco. Have read a few reviews on line and it seems to shoot well for most people.

Reply to saskcop; Price are mostly the same, that doesnt matter to me. I am looking for facts. Which one shoots cleaner, more consistant and reliable etc.

I don't think Ganderite tested either of these. He stuck to steel cased milsurp I thought...

That said, I have tried both of these and both run fine in by SKS' and shoot about the same accuracy wise in my Zastava M85.

The only difference that would sway my purchase one way or the other is the GECO brass looks really nice for reloading but also looks like it's primers are military crimped. The PPU stuff is regular primer pockets.

May I ask why you’re specifically looking for brass cased ammo? You’re going to have a huge jump in cost vs non-corrosive steel cased, with not much gain in accuracy with those two platforms.

OP: out of the 2 choices, buy the cheapest.

But here is my real advice: buy the cheapest 7.62x39 ammo you can find and just clean your rifle after.

Unless you want to reload this caliber

Barnaul is the best cheap non corrosive and works great

i only buy brass 7.62x39 in soft point for hunting, mainly for the smoother cycling in bolt actions. otherwise not worth the cost. Soft point barnaul in a SKS can get chewed up on extraction. At least mine did the year i hunted with them and a SKS, non-issue in a CZ527 just does not cycle as smooth as brass but still effective and accurate.
