Ammo for Webley II

Unless you can find someone that makes BP loads, none are?
Maybe try Rusty Wood Trading, I hear they make obsolete cartridges.

The majority of the ammo those revolvers saw was smokeless since the British switched to cordite from BP in the mid 1890s iirc. Regardless, if your MKII is in proper condition then you can use any load whether smokeless or not that stays within the 455 Webley CIP pressure range of approximately 12,500 psi. That will include all commercial loadings including the Fiochi and also the Dominion that is still occasionally found at some gunshows.

Handloaders have lots of options with fast to medium pistol and shotgun powders. 700x, Bullseye, Unique, Trailboss are all good.

Thank you guys. I will handload it, but wanted to test first with factory ammo and of course it's also the way to acquire some brass for future handloading.

What amount of 700x are you thinking? :yingyang:

These worked for me in several webley revolvers, and were not hot at all:
3.2 gr 700x with the 265gr HB bullet in Hornady 455 MKII brass.
3.5 gr 700x with the 265gr HB bullet in 45acp brass.

For comparison only: Hornady lists a starting load for 45acp - 4.4gr 700x - 230gr bullet = 12,700 CUP.

Thanks; I've also been trying to hit upon a smokeless 700x loading for .455 "bulldog" revolvers...
