Where does this stuff come from? I have had a bunch of it for awhile, it shoots fine and I got it for pretty cheap. But now Iam curious where its from

The Mk8z was intended as dedicated machinegun ammo for the Vickers. Tonnes and tonnes of it have been shot through Enfields, but with many people observing it is a bit on the hot side.

The Z after the Mark 8 refers to the powder.
The British used to use Cordite (looks like cords or strings). When they changed to nitrocellulose powder ("normal" smokeless), they added the Z to the headstamp.

tootall is correct, and it makes sense when you realize it wasn't intended to be a "z", rather is an "N" viewed sideways.
