Ammo in your Black rifle

what do you usually run in your black rifle? AR, Tavor.....

I've got an Armalite M15 marked 5.56 and I run the American Eagle Tactical AE223.

I bought mfs first but that red primer sealent gunks up everything. Never caused a problem with function but sure made a mess.

Now I have a lot of xtac and even more norinco. Buy whatever you can get a deal on.

Be aware that Norc bulk (the cheapest ammo out there) can occasionally have undersized bullets - won't damage the gun, but will put sideways bullet holes in your target, even up close.

American Eagle 55 grain. Also have some 62 Grain PMC XTAC I use on occasion.

Stay away from that Stell case, lacquered ammo, corrosive trash.

I run bullets in my Tavor and AR15. I have heard some people use water in their guns.

I have a Tavor & a Norinco M4, been running the Norinco stuff in the 1600 round cases. Always goes BANG!

My ar15 and tavor have fired 2200+ norinco .223 with no issues. Cheap and effective

Handloads.

75g HPBTM Hornady projectile, H4895 powder, CCI 450 primers.
I drive them at 2660 ft/sec in 20" brl.

75g is around the heaviest projectile you can run that will feed multiple cartridges from a box magazine in 5.56 NATO.

My goal is a loading similar to the Hornady 75g TAP FPD loading #80268.

The only factory ammo I have tested for accuracy was MFS. It was poor.

My handloads are all 55 g FMJ. I use a cheap ball powder similar to BLC2 and start low and work up, looking for the best accuracy, preferably well short of max. I only shoot CQB, so velocity is not required, just reliable cycling. Different rifle have different gas requirements. My Norinco develops a lot more gas in the action than the Dan Def and NEA, so the Norc load is very mild. So mild it won't run the bolt in the other rifles.

For factory ammo get whatever is the cheapest. I reload most of my rifle ammo. 55g Hornady or Lake city with 24.5g Ramshot Tac and CCI 400 or 450 primers. Works great.

They are restricted black rifles for the most part. They can onlybe shot st the range. May as well use whatever is cheapest unless it is a competition gun. I have shot thousands of rounds of norinco .223. Never a problem.

I have used MFS steel case, AE black box, and Winchester "target" ammo.

The MFS seemed to have the hardest hit, and the Winchester was slightly more accurate, but it was all basically the same.
