Ammo issue gun issue or?

So I load up my 10/22 with some new Winchester 36 grain hollow points made in the USA. It was jam city with my butler creek 25 round magazine. Some of the shells actually separated from the lead.

I then went to to a gun shop and bought three bricks of CCI Mini mag and the guy tells me the Winchester are not very good especially when made in China. Atlee many of the premium 22 shells are made in Germany.

Should I get rid of the shells or is it just a case of teething pains in the brand-new 1022.

Either way I'm going to mod up this gun but everyone on the site seems to say I should shoot it first and enjoy it just the way it is before starting to figure out what to mod.
 
A lot of semis dont like hollow point. My SR 22 will not feed most hp, the Winchester 490 doesnt like them either. Also, Winchester 22 ammo is pretty bad to start with.
 
sometimes the projectiles in cheaper 22 ammo are relatively loose in the case consequently they cause all sorts of trouble in semi autos as they bend move and get in the way. CCi's are typically higher quality bullets, the projectile does not move in the case, and the bullet tips themselves are uniform, maybe smaller diameter than the win's, smoother and without the little ridges on them, all making them load easier. The other issue may be the magazine. I have had to file down the follower as the angle may be too steep and cause the bullets to point up higher than they should when loading, this can cause no end of grief, no matter the type of ammo you use. Just compare the angle of it, to a magazine you know works well.
 
My henry lever has a problem with the 222,333,555 junk whatever you wanna call it! Like serious bullet mangling jamo-mattic!

The 10/22 cycles them great tho lol but they are cheap ammo and just that. Minimags should show a huge improvement.
Sounds like just an ammo problem to me.
