The new, non-corrosive Norinco runs great in both my SKS and my VZ 58. It's plenty accurate for my needs and seems to feed more reliably than the barnaul. It’s worth the few dollars more per box.
The thin copper plating on the norinco cartridges will flake off when fired and either brand will leave the internals slightly fouled. At the same time, I haven’t had to clean the SKS since I switched over from corrosive surplus ~1500 rounds ago.
Just remember that most of the newly manufactured cheap stuff, like the surplus, will come complete with those nasty steel penetrators. The woodlot behind where I plink at the cabin is starting to look like Jonestown.
