My mossberg 935 is chambered for 3" and 3 1/2" shells and I'm wondering if it's safe to try firing 2 3/4" shells in it. I'm told it may jam or fail to cycle but is there any safety hazard by trying this?? Does anyone know? I asked a local shotgun guy and he says it's safe but will likely jam but he only shoots double barrels and really can't say for sure.

Perfectly safe to do, however depending on how new your gun is it may jam. Most of the newer auto loaders suggest firing a few boxes of heavy field loads though them to get the gas pistons working effectively, then you can try which ever loads you like afer that. Are you looking to shoot some clay targets? If so get your self some 3 dram or 3 1.4 dram eq loads that have a bit of snap in them.FS

Perfect. I've fired about 200 rounds of various 3" varities during the duck hunting season this year. I'll let you know how the 2 3/4" 00 Buck works when I try it.
