I am getting into Precision Rifle soon. My new 300WM should be complete in a month or so.

The rifle builder really likes 200gr Sierra BTHP Matchkings. Can some of you Precision guys give me some advice on bullet weight?

Is 200gr good enough to buck the wind at 300-800yds? Should I go heavier?

Sierra has 220gr and soon they will have 210gr.

What do you guys suggest???

I was reloading the 190gr Sierra BTHP Matchkings and found them better out of my Sendero than the 200gr.

The 190gr had no problems at longer ranges.

I was using the 178gr A-max and reloader 22 it was awesome!!!!Killed a Timberwolf at 760yards!!!

I also used it for long range matches!!

I use the Sierra 200 grainers and have heard good things about the 190's. I found the Berger bullets inconsistent with lengths and weights (maybe I just got a bad couple boxes). As for the Sierra 210's I suggest you take a look at the advertised coefficients on the Sierra website. I have not heard one good thing about the bullet and that comes from the Sierra staff themselves. I have it on pretty good authority that they are considering scrapping the 210 as it turned out to be a lemon from a ballistics point of view.

Berger 210 VLDs are an excellent choice as well.

I have used both the 178gr Hornady A-max and the 190gr Sierra matchking. The A-max was an awesome bullet even long range but I didn't experiment with the MKs long enough to find the sweet spot.

My .300WM will be shooting the 190SMKs when it comes back from the smith.
