Ammo shortage at Canadian Tire??

Time for another trip to Walmart this week to check for 555 restock.

Remember - it is not spending/wasting money. It is reallocating to a different asset class...

The local CT here never has much selection or stock of anything I'm looking for & what they do have is overpriced. Don't see that changing any time soon. Maybe as the drought sets in the shelves will empty out as people adopt the any ammo is batter than no ammo policy and start to pay top dollar. Occasionally you can hit a good deal if they're clearing something out since the layer of dust on it has gotten too thick but those opportunities are few & far between. Too close to Toronto is a BIG part of the problem I suspect!

The Walmart where I cleaned out the 555 has either sold out again or has not re-stocked. I will check another location tomorrow.

I visited a CT in Mississauga and had them do a few lookups on the computer for various .223 boxes up to and including the AE223 1000 round ammo can -- mostly zero stock and no idea when more was coming (obviously). Asked them to order the 1000 round can for me, and they said OK as long as I was willing to pay for all of it up front. Nope.

Ordered my ammo can from P&D instead and very happy to report I have my stash :)

I purchased the last 4k of M22 at a CT. Most are sold out of that stuff and there were just a few other "bulk" packs left. At my local CT, they are sold out with a "standing order" tag where the M22 should be.

No idea what you're all on about. True, the Wholesale Sports here in Edmonton (both of them) don't have any 22 except crappy Remington stuff. That's not because of Demand. It's always that way. They're a joke.

The Walmarts and Canadian Tires have TONS around here. No shortage.

Cabela's has more than TONS. I was in there today. Here's what they have:

You can see bulk Australian Winchester ammo, wildcats, 333s, federal, and bulk CCI Mini Mags. Please note that those cardboard boxes stacked below and double deep each hold 10 bulk boxes inside them. Then on the endcap there's CCI minimags in the clear plastic containers, CCI standard velocity, CCI Green Tag, Federal Match, Federal Target, etc etc etc.

Seriously, they have about 10 millions rounds just sitting there on the floor.

Anyone can order online from Cabela's if they wish. $19.99 for 500 Winchester or $28.99 for 375 CCI Minimags.

Here's a tip I learnt today.

Go to Walmart and CT stores in the hood. Lots of ammo in the Marlborough Walmart in Calgary. Not too many indigenous people get their ammo from retail stores with locked cabinets and security cameras.

Orillia CT has federal 525 boxes @ 25.99

Im hoping to do a bulk order at canadaammo though, so im holding out. Hoping they get some of the winchester 555 in at 21.99 and then ill snag them for sure.

Why the hate for Remington Thunderbolts. Oddly enough they have always shot well in my Nylon 66 and Marlin 795. I have had one dud in 1500rnds. The new tooling makes them pretty good rounds. I have the older stuff and don't have problems. Perhaps Rem TB is available somewhere?

My local CT had the same amount of ammo as they usually do in March. Ive found they dont really restock in the winter as ammo sales plummet post-Christmas. I picked up a brick of .22LR and some .223

Hey Caboverbobby!

I am from Napanee as well and have found they just really aren't all that interested in carrying ammo. Take the short drive to Belleville and you will find lots!

Maybe it falls to priorities of the store buyer or maybe they are consolidating to the larger volume stores?

Ammunition deliveries are now coming in, fully stocked and available. The deliveries are quarterly, this is the end of the first quarter and the deliveries are on time and full.

No Shortage.
