Ammo... Will there be a "price correction"???

I remember several years ago buying Federal XM193 (as in real M193, not the PMC stuff that's being called M193 around here) at a local store in Edmonton... It had to have been "legal" to import at that time... when did things change...?! It's not like there isn't TONS and TONS of it around on the civilan market in the states, and even with the rate of exchange it would still be less than the $499.00 we seeing for the PMC stuff (less shipping mind you... with shipping, it would be the same price)...

Same with Winchester 7.62x51 (as in the real deal)... with a 20% rate of exchange it's $623.00 / 1000... I paid $675 for 1260 rounds of SA 1981 surplus 7.62... it's good ammo, but I'd rather have the Winchester made in 2008...!!!

What about Privi Partisan...?!?! Are they on Dr. Watson's list...!? (for real...! Dr. Watson is the man at ERD... oh boy ) Guys in the states seem to love the Privi stuff...

When did all of this change (for the worse)...?!?

The PMC stuff is in fact real M193, regardless of what you may have heard. The PMC K100 is also in fact real M855.

Prvi is permitted to be imported. I have dealt with them for years, we have supplied several of our foreign accounts (Military) with their high quality munitions.

Remember that since the break up of the former Yugoslavia the various "new countries" are joining or are about to join the EU, and their pricing certainly reflects that fact....

I can supply anyone who wants PP ammo with very little delay (they too are making Nato ammo) minimum container load of each caliber.

Regards
John

Hey...! Some good news in all of this for a change... thanks John... so what does a container load, um... contain...? My sense is that the real market(s) would be for the 5.56 (M193, M855) and 7.62x51 stuff... I'd buy 10K rounds of M193 / M855 and at least 2 or 3K of the 7.62...

It would have to be the real thing though... that is true NATO spec dope...

Group buy...!?

What about Federal XM193, or Winchester... lots and lots of this stuff floating around the States... aren't Federal and Winchester on the approved list...?

... So what does a container load, um... Contain.....? .......

I'd buy 10K rounds of M193 / M855 and at least 2 or 3K of the 7.62...:slap:

From previous discussions. CanAm mentioned the factories pretty much hang-up the phone if the order is less then a million. Yes, that is a million rounds!!
I would hazard a guess Johnone travels in the same circles, so that 40' container holds a cool million..... easily! 10 skids in a 40' ..I'd say 3 million+ - if it is in wood crates and stacked full..gee I would hate to see the bill on that one:)

I do, do you...?

You know what they say... many pockets makes much cash (or something like that). I guess the real question is how many of us will put some cash where our ammo stash should be...!?

If it's 1,000,000 rounds of 5.56 (M193), and I'm taking 10K, that means we only need to find 990 more guys (or less) that want 1,000 rounds (or more)... Given all the AR's around, that doesn't seem like much of a stretch. Nor does it account for any of the retailers in the country that would stock some of this stuff... between the three stores I frequent here in E-town I bet I could place another 60-100K rounds... when you think about it that's only 20-30 cases / store, which wouldn't take up much room / budget or time to sell... and that's just in Edmonton...

John... what's the scoop on actual rounds / container...? What might we be looking at in terms of costs / container F.O.B. to your location in ON...?

Thanks,

Dave.

all sea cans hold 20 tons regardless of volume. 20 tons of ammo fills a 20' to roughly 1/2.

Cool... thanks for the info...

Alright, so by my crude figuring, and based on the only quoted weight I could find during a basic web search... Remington suggests that 1000 rounds of their R223R3 weighs in at 30 lbs. (.223 rem, 55gr MC bullet)

20 tons = 40K lbs

40k lbs / 30 lbs per case = 1,333 Cases of 1000 rounds each

1,333 Cases x 1,000 rounds/case = 1,333,000 rounds (1.33 million rounds)

So... who's in...!?!?

1.33 million rounds sounds like a big number... but think of it this way, are there 1,300 guys in ALL OF CANADA that would buy 1000 rounds of 2008 production M193...? I would think so, and easily at that... and in fact, it's only 1,290 guys after my 10K :D

... I'm taking 10K, that means we only need to find 990 more guys .......

Check out This thread...CanAm already tried with M855 and not enough people jumped on.
We had a chance.

Now that millions of rounds of PMC are coming in....it cuts into your 1300 guys:cool: Target jacked their PMC to $499 (from $450-same old, same old- lets raise the price of product on the shelf because the dollar goes down)) $499 for PMC M193 is lame, CanAms offer of $600 for LC M855 was good if not Great!!.

We are limited by weight not by other concerns....
a typical 20ft will hold 1 million .223 or about 875,000 7.62x39 while a heavy 20ft will hold about 950,000rds or 26MT
The containers are at least 30% empty but the weight is there..

When you look at .30-06, .308, 7.62x54r etc, you can put between 500,000 & 575,000rds in a heavy 20ft depending on packaging....

We seldom use 40ft for ammo unless there is a considerable saving over other alternatives, simply not cost effecient.

IF there is someone out there that is serious about buying Prvi ammo, let me know.
contact me privately john@marstar.ca
Please provide a copy of your import license.
We have no time for a "group buy" if somebody wants to organize one, no problem, I will deal with that person....
REMEMBER we are dealing with newly manufactured ammunition NOT surplus, don't expect bargains on the international market....

Just to add my 2 bits. With the price of all metals and oil falling in price. We will see a drop in price in ammo. All the manufacturers are using up their high priced metals and when they get to buy lower priced metals, one of them will move down to get a contract and that will start the ball rolling. It takes a few months for all manufacturers to use up their higher priced materials.
Noe is the time that all manufacturers make tons of profit because it takes time to raise prices then they try to hold the higher prices while they are buying low priced raw materials. Sooner or later someone drops their price & passes on the savings to the customer. They aren't going to tell anyone when thay are getting raw materials cheap. I know cause I was a large lead buyer in the past and made gobs of money in times like this.

Hey Guys;

Well, with the cost of ammo having gone through the roof in the last little while... Who here thinks there will be a price correction on ammo ????

Back on topic :)

So where is all the ammo that was purchased when our dollar was above par??
or did no one buy any ammo last fall??
Makes great sense to buy it now from the factories with our dollar at .80cents.
