Ammo Woe's

I hear ya.
Lots of Eley available near me but the SK long range and Lapua gets snatched up quick. RWS match just hasn’t been here for a decade.
Try out the Eley Tenex or even Club is pretty good

Sounds about the same as last year; couple bricks of "good stuff" will show up, and then sell for 35-50 bucks a box of 50. Inflated like gasoline.

There haven't been any shipments of Lapua or SK ammo to Canada in a year, perhaps longer. Dealers are expecting these two makes (produced in the same facilities in Germany) some time this year but haven't been able to confirm a date. Eley ammos are more available but with no Lapua/SK currently found expect demand for it to increase. RWS ammos haven't been as widely available in Canada for years, but perhaps that will change.

The bottom line is that if concerned about the availablility of .22LR match ammo, get what you can while you can. Pricing will likely increase over time. Ammo prices don't go down like gas prices sometimes do.

Well, I did get somewhat of a sticker-shock when looking up availability online this morning.
- Since moving to the country, the wife and I haven't been doing any sort of competitive shooting... It's been mostly hunting and/or plinking. With the odd two-of-us FP/rifle match.

Eley Club = $130/500
- Wasn't that $30/brick not so long ago?

^ ^ Placing an order can work if you're not in a hurry 😄 I bought a few bricks of SK-RM a few years back, was only $135 w-tax & shpg (NO Free-shp where it was available). My CZ-VMTR doesn't do well with any 'low-priced Eley' and Under $20 is my budget. I tried Eley Club and Sport to no avail.
I have found that SK-Magazine is OK for practice, just a few more fliers than SK+ or SK-RM. I run them for fouling 5-10 before the RM. Many dealers have it for ca $90/500, plus tax & shpg. I just found 3 Sponsors today, but you have to shop around. Lots of Eley around if that works for you. SK is 'thin on the ground', only a couple Sponsors have it.
S-Mike - That was 10-ish years ago ? ? I haven't seen 'Any' good ammo under $75/brick for many years.

this message could be posted every 12 months and remain true, except for that one month where NM gets their 3million rounds in with 1/2 of it pre-ordered already.

Back in 2019, Eley Club was $90/500 if you found a good deal.
You didn't specify when this $30/500 price was, but it definitely wasn't in the last 7 years.

I'm glad my rifle likes tac22, it's no record braker, but shoots decently enough and has been fairly consistently available.

The national distributor of Lapua/SK is Hirsch, not Nordic Marksman. Dealers get their ammo from the distributor, which also sells to the public. It's not known whether Nordic Marksman gets the ammo it stocks from the distributor.

There appears to be what might be described as a "grey market" for .22LR match ammo whereby some dealers obtain ammo from sources other than the authorized distributor.

ALL - I emailed Hirsch today and they DO NOT HAVE A DATE for 're-stock' of SK-Lapua for this year. They DO HAVE SK-Magazine for ca $90 but shipping will F-you unless you live nearby. Even driving far will cost more than shipping with gas prices Now.
