Hi Calvin,

As discussed in our email conversations, I think it is clear that it is not our intent to ignore your concerns. Our standard policy is that we will investigate any potential defect product manufactured by Western Metal within 1 year of the date of purchase as long as there is proof of receipt and the product remains with the original consumer. This is a standard policy among many ammunition manufacturers, including Federal.

As noted, the lot number that is stamped on the boxes traces back to a product that was manufactured 11 years ago and sold to a retailer in Calgary, AB. In efforts to help you in your situation, we attempted to investigate this issue 10 years past what our typical policy suggests. Due to the lack of information, it is hard to clearly define where the product was sourced (as your answers in the email chains waivered), when it was purchased, lack of proof of receipt, if you are the original owner...etc. The only tangible thing we can investigate from this ticket is pictures of ammunition with the WM boxes, which doesn't provide much information or validity.

We apologize for addressing your name incorrectly in the email chain, it was a simple mistake and was not intended to make you feel unheard.

We did mention that we would be happy to investigate this ticket further if you can provide proof of receipt. If anything, we would much prefer to provide a solution and ensure you are a happy customer.

Kind Regards,

WM Team

Hey western metal, your name is on the box therefore it’s your name that get the bad reputation. The guy isn’t asking for something unreasonable. I am sure you will lose more from this post than what the OP was asking for. Instead of a positive review where you took care of a dangerous situation, you get negative and definitely lose respect.

Thank you for posting Blackwell88

Why not reach out to"...manufactured in the USA by a company called Ammo Load World Wide at their facility in Lewiston ID."

With the lot numbers, they'll be able to definitively date the ammo.

I have to take WM's side in this one. How are they to know what all went on with that ammo over the last 11 years? Someone who stored it in a truck, through 10 years of freeze-thaw cycles, before you bought it for a deal on gunnutz or gunp*st ?

Did you have the bore of the rifle mic'd to check dimensions ? a 0.0001" (one ten thousandth of an inch) difference in the bore diameter will yield bigger pressure spikes than an extra grain of powder.

Now, I'm not knocking Cadex either, not at all... but I can definitely see from WM's perspective, you're asking them to take ownership of an issue that was FAR out of their control for a long time.

Assuming that yes, you bought it within a year, from a local retailer, etc. That is a BIG assumption on ammo that is 11 years old.
I know the receipt is a pain, but without it... that's too big of an assumption for me.

Anyways, assuming you did, what is the headspacing on that chamber ? You said it's barrel break in day... Were these bullets jamming into the lands?

So many variables to just jump on WM, claim Cadex is a saint, and that somehow you are not even involved in the assignment of blame.

Classic case of $350 bucks would have made all this go away...

Even one lost customer would have made the $350 a wash...

Exactly.

I don't think I’d feel comfortable even buying projectiles from y’all with this type of response.

“We didn't make it, not our problem.” Is not reassuring. How am I to know what you actually make, and what you just slap a label on.

I get the no receipt no refund thing… but dudes just asking for an exchange for a defective product ( that has your name on it )

Also as many have pointed out here, doesn’t this seem like a bad business decision over a few hundred bucks ?

I would politely listen to WM on many of their issues. However they loose all credibility when they told him they didn't make the ammo so not their problem..

Take the profit but bail as soon as there is an issue. Good to know.

Whats next? "Ya we loaded the ammo, but we bought the brass from ### and the bullets from yyy, etc so not our problem, you should contact those manufacturers".

You expect what on 11 years old ammo..no receipt..purchased by his friend and passed over to him..try that with Federal or Winchester..

As for Cadex..on liability stand point..it’s not smart to repair and release a rifle that of their own statement might have an action not 100 % safe. If it blow up in the OP face because of micro cracks..will see another kind of tread thereafter…

Ah, once again you show you can't read. Take your fake bs indignation and shove it.

Wm made it clear with their attitude: 11 years or 11 days, its not their problem.

I figured the apologists would start showing up quickly.

And you the mother of all lost cause can shove it too.. blocked from one hole to the other..as soon that it’s not going your way..you just cannot accept it…

« They also required me to sign a liability waiver, as the could not see any immediate problem with the chamber/action, but would not guarantee it was up to their standards without replacing everything. »

You can read but you, clearly , do not understand it..
