I am fairly new to shotgunning. I just came into an older berretta AL2 gas operated semi-auto that I will be using for upland birds and hopefully he odd waterfowl shoot. I bought the run of the mill Federal #6 1 ounce shot from Canadian Tire but then read a brief comment on another post that semi-autos don't cycle one ounce shot? Is this accurate? The gun has a fixed full choke so I likely won't use steel shot in it based on other information I have read here. Are tungsten loads suitable?

What loads do you suggest for upland and waterfowl in this gun?

AS far as not cyleing 1oz loads that I'm not sure about. Your standard 20ga load is 7/8oz. My buddies kid has a Rem 1100 mag 20ga and it cycles 7/8oz loads. My son has a Beretta 303 and a 391 in 12ga and they will both cycle 7/8oz and 3/4oz loads and like I said it's a 12ga. If a 20ga wont cycle 1oz field loads it either has something wrong with it or needs cleaning real bad. If it has full choke barrel I think the cheapest waterfowl loads will be bismuth and yes their are 20ga TM loads avalaible. I know Kent makes them and I'm sure Federal does aswell.

Shoot it and find out.

Now why didn't I think of that. :D

I'm not sure I'll get the chance before I head up country for deer hunting next week and want to take this gun along for grouse and jumping ducks over small ponds. Just looking to take advantage of everyone who seems to know more than I do on here. Anything to add in terms of adequete loads and possible problems with this gun?

What about loads for hares?

It should cycle them fine. Take #6 or #7-1/2 lead for grouse, #6 steel for ducks but over decoys only (3inch if your gun will handle them), and #4-#6 lead for wabbits.

First thing I would do with that gun is open the choke to IC. It sounds like a beautiful little gun. What's it weigh?

Thanks guys I will buy some of the Tungsten for waterfowl on this trip and stick with the 1 ounce for grouse and see how it goes.

I haven't put the gun on the scale yet but it is very light and is incredibly comfortable for me, it shoulders better than any other firearm I have ever had.
