Water will go through solid granite if given enough time, but for a brief flooding they may me okay.

It needs pressure, not so much time.

Granite is not solid....that's why you have to seal it.

True, Granite is not solid. It you added water slow and steady enough, the granite would act like a sponge. Soaking it up until it is full, then the water would drip out.
