From the National Post, along with a silly comment:

U.S. bullet manufacturers to divert all production
to military contracts
CanWest News Service
Bad news for hunters: Thanks to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, North America is running out of ammo. A Winnipeg sporting goods supplier said the three major manufacturers of bullets on the continent — all U.S.-based — say they will be diverting production from the domestic market to meet their military contracts for the balance of the year. Terry Robinson, manager of the S.I.R. Warehouse Sports Store, said the higher-powered calibres are “going completely to the military for the rest of the year.” What that means is that hunters using high-powered ammo like .223s may have to switch to something lighter — or learn to use a bow and arrow.

Oh god that article pretty much forces me to think "BULL####". I've no doubt there will be shortages, but I am sure my "high-Powered" .223 will keep firing. I expect more from even SIR....
