I like super lube grease, and oils, it is clear syth. and I have used it for many years, on most stuff. guns, hinges, etc.
I never had trouble with AMT, but I never put many rounds thru any of them, other than the 22 mag, they made 3 different lengths in those.

I bought some of this for my AMT Automag II after reading about galling issues. Took me a bit to find a firearm specific one. Probably could have used any type of grease used to prevent galling but this seems to work well so far.

I use a synthetic reel and gun grease Outers used to sell. Still on the same tube I bought 30 years or so back. You don't need much. - dan

1911s are best run wet. I"ve tried grease, wax, and oil. A few drops of oil before shooting will reduce problems. Run it dry, and anything could happen.

Regular cleaning (1000-2000 rounds) - particularly if the ammo is dirty - will also help.

I'm sure the AMT just needed a bit of love.
