Thanks, some were taken with a Sony DSC-W35, some with a Canon D60/70-300mm lens and the really nice ones were taken with my PH's Nikon DSLR

Yep, PH's .243 with a silencer. Sounded like a .22LR and was a real pleasure to shoot. I brought my Ruger Hawkeye (.375 Ruger), Rem 700 (.30-06) and Winchester 94 (.30-30)

Congrats on a great vacation! I went this year for my first (and probably only) hunt in Africa as well...have you any tips on how to remove the giant s**t-eating grin? The experience is incomparable, isn't it? I'm still pinching myself, saying "My God, I've been to AFRICA!"

Fantastic trip, that has always been a dream of mine but have always wondered how much of the meat is edible and how much of the hunting is strictly for trophy's. I see they have a cooler full, so I am assuming a lot of th meat doesn't go to waste, which makes it all the more attractive...I guess I could convince the warden that a safari/hunting trip would be fun (she's sadly, a nonhunter). Looks like an excellent amount of opportunity and game choices as well, did you find the trip was great value or did you have to spend a fortune to be able to do all that?

Nothing we shot went to waste....even the guts were given to the locals!

As far as cost goes (and lots of people have been asking), it depends entirely on what you want to hunt for. Trophy fees vary from a couple hundred bucks to a couple thousand depending on species and the concession you're hunting. Flights were $1500 and up (return) and our daily rate was all-inclusive (transport to/from the airport, all lodging, all food, all drinks & daily laundry, professional hunter, tracker, skinner, so on).

Do I feel like we got good value? Absolutely, yes.

Interesting in that its quite a late season/summer hunt.

The bird you couldn't remember was a Paradise Flycatcher, beautiful little guys and not scared to nest around humans!

I am all for using moderators/suppressors on hunting rifles too.

A great summary of your trip-super pictures. I'm off to Namibia in May and would be very pleased with a Kudu like yours!

What are you doing with your horns and hides? Euros or shoulders,etc.? Having it done over there? Do you have to declare to Canadian customs on return that you have game animals following?

Absolutely awesome! It has been a lifetime dream of mine to take a trip like yours. We had started planning for one in late 07 but then the media told everyone we were in recession and my business took a nasty hit Someday though for sure. Thanks for sharing!
