An early 1949 SKS

I put this rifle in SKS collectable folder but thought I would also enter it here.

Several years ago, a collector in Calgary showed me his early 49 SKS. It had features that I had not seen before. A few months ago, I was able find another and purchase. Here are some the features on it -
1. Equal cleaning rod numbs.
2. No rivet on magazine.
3. Clawed trap door.
4. Stock modified for clawed trap door.
5. Rear sling mount, early style.
6. No knurls(ridges) on safety and magazine release.
7. Front sling mount thicker than later mounts. 4.98mm - 3.88mm

Pertaining to #7 on the list. Not only is it wider, but the inside slot is also smaller. Used a pen to show the difference between this rifle and another 49.

Wounldn't it also have a 'spring loaded' firing pin?

Yes, it does have a spring-loaded firing pin. Thie firing pin was switched to free floating in late 1950.

Around a year ago I bought this rifle. It has the same trap door and butt modification as the previous post. It also has a transitional rear sling mount. First picture is from above rifle then next is this 49 that I own, then current. Album is below.
