Well, it was quite the year. Counting our trip to Africa, we managed to take 24 big game animals between us in 2009 (not counting my wolf), including 11 right here in Alberta. We are definitely blessed to have so much opportunity. Here's number 24, taken two nights ago....the smile says it all.

That's a good looking deer.

I agree that in Alberta we have an incredible amount of opportunity to fill a lot of tags if a hunter is so inclined.

If you're going to have it mounted, sure count it. Like a bear.

If it's vermin like gophers and 'yotes, no points!

I'm not sure which one I like better, that seriously rutted up buck or your great looking spouse.

Good on you guys.

Personally, I can't imagine eating that much protein in a year.

LOL...we do share a fair bit with family and some older folks in a retirement community but we do like our protein. Lots of kinds of sausage and jerky this year. It definitely all goes to good use. We could have easily made use of several more deer. The African meat of course stayed in Africa. Damn, I wish we could have brought a few hundred pounds of zebra meat home! Well, and kudu too.
