Likely my longest shot to date on a deer. right at 200 yards. Would have been closer, but I was busted by a doe that was walking across the field to check me out, and she spooked the rest of them when she pronked off, once she decided that she didn't like me. I got settled in on a hilltop that I had been creeping towards, sorted out where the dude was, and got a bead on him, and when he stepped out into the clear and broadside, I was ready.

Clean broadside barely clipped a rib on the way in, same on the way out the other side. Made hash of the liver, one lung came out in chunks, and a dead right there deer was the result.

Nice buck. Had not seen him around, so figure he wandered in to the area. Figure I just made the two fork bucks that were hanging around, very happy, as they were getting chased off the does by this fella. They were bigger bodied than he, but younger. Some good blood running around here. Woulda rather had the fork, but the season is for 4 or better only.

So...it's cold out! Yech! Gotta start stripping the carcass today. Good thing I have a garage to hang him in (not my garage, unfortunately) if he's too frozen to deal with as is.

Otherwise, it's a table in the basement, and cold cold hands...

Wow gorgeous!

You should consider doing an antler mount!

Likely going to clean up the skull as a whole head, and see if I can keep from losing any important bits this time. Somehow lost the nose bone on one side from the last one I did...

Nice buck Trev and a story to boot.. did you find him on your property?? Mic

On Crown land just off the property.

How ya been? Have not been keeping up on my social obligations this last year.

Thanks all!

Awff duh porch or what numero green?
Awll b.s. aside, nice buck.

Nah! The golf course is for Coyotes, not deer!

Congrats. A lot of guys got skunked this year, you're lucky or exceptionally skilled!

Luck comes with spending a bunch of time out where the deer live. Perseverance helps too.

I have a exceptional piece of land to hunt, between the Crown and Private property, with a pretty healthy population of deer, here as well.
