An old acquaintance and the Nasty Class

An old acquaintance of mine, who I haven't seen for 15 yrs or so, worked on the design of the Nasty class boats and their Napier Deltic engines. He showed me some of the drawings and pictures he still had at that time.

Those are remarkable engines: three crankshafts geared to a single driveshaft, triangulated opposing cylinders and no conventional head. A total of 18 cylinders in the length of 6. Very clever!
