An old Sako gets a fresh makeover

Im just a little excited about some new additions to my moose rifle, but I love gun #### and figure Id post some of my own.

Before:

Sako AII .308 in factory stock. Wearing Sako rings and Leupold Vari-X II 2-7x scope with Butler Creek flip up caps.

AFTER:

Now in a McMillan Sako Varminter stock in GAP camo pillar bedded. Wearing Leupold Sako Rings. Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x scope and Leupold Alumina Flip-Back Covers.

I hope to get out to the range soon and work on a new recipe for 180g accubonds in Lapua Brass, pushed by Varget and CCI BR2 primers. If any of you are using the same loads, Id love to hear what works best for you.
 
Be careful in the bush with that rifle. If you lay it down somewhere you may never find it again with that camo stock, blends right in. Just kidding looks good but I prefer wood stock.
 
I'd take it either way, but I prefer the McMillan Sako Hunter pattern. I'm not a fan of the beavertailed forend...
 
I gave all of my old blued/wood stocked rifles to my son or traded/sold them off I replaced them all with stainless steel black/gray laminate stocked rifles...

So even though it is a nice looking rifle I would get rid of it in both configurations and replace it with a new 85 Grey Wolf...

I also liked it in the original stock however this is a working rifile and has been dragged through the bush on many occasions. Im a bit obsesive with taking care of my guns and found the walnut to be alot of maintenance keeping it in the condition you see in the picture. Fiberglass should solve this and I love the way the Varminter stock feels in my hands.
