so, i am in the market for a .22 pistol. i looked at the walther with the extended barrel and also the beretta neo. i want one that actually looks like a pistol and that is also accurate. ok, lay it on the line for me here fellas. what is the one i should get. like i said, those are the only 2 i looked at, so if there are other ones, tell me. if someone has one for sale, let me know. i have a glock 17 and want a .22 for cheap and accurate shooting. the ruger target guns do not appeal to me, i think they are horrible looking. thanks for your opinions and time.

You may want to hold out for the 105mm+ Sig Mosquito that's coming out in the near future. From my research @ rimfirecentral.com the Walther P22 is a bit of a turd, which is too bad because I love the look. I agree with you about the Ruger, great gun, but they look like something that should go on the end of a garden hose.

If you don't mind spending big $$$ on a .22, Smith & Wesson Model 41 is your best bet. It's extremely accurate, built with quality materials (unlike many other .22's that utilize folded sheet metal, cast aluminum, and other low-grade materials), and would likely last you a lifetime. It also looks like a" real gun" (more or less) and not like a WWII relic or Star Trek prop. It's not cheap (new ones go for $1200-1300) but you get what you pay for.

P.S. I would avoid Sig Mosquito even if it becomes available in Canada, as many American shooters have reported problems with that gun. The Mosquito may look like a classic P22x series pistol, but it's not built to the same standard of quality. Once again, you get what you pay for.

Why not a 22 conversion kit for your glock?

Another non ruger option would also be the CZ 75 Kadet.

Can the Kadet be purchased as a standalone pistol, or do you need a regular 75 and a conversion kit?

Both stand alone and conversion.

Talk to mark at Guns and Things. I believe the Kadet is around $750 (tax in) and the conversion is around $440.

I will never get used to the prices my Canadian Cousins pay for firearms. I bought my CZ75B on a close-out for $249 (US) and I paid $210 (US) for my Kadet Conversion Unit with two magazines. I enjoy shooting the Kadet a lot and in fact shoot it the most of my 22 handguns. Regards, Richard :?:

My CZ75B with the Kadet is on top and the other is my CZ75 PCR:

The Browning Buckmarks are decent for the price, SIG Trailside is nice as well. The NEOS is the ugliest gun on the planet though.........and the P22 is the biggest piece of ####.
I saw a guy 3 weeks ago at the range with a brand new P22, him and his buddy drooling over it and all the "ooh, ahhh, so cool looking". Anyway, he starts shooting it and I hear **bang** "ouch", **bang** "ouch", and on and on like this the whole mag. For some reason the spent cases ejected straight back into his face.....3 mags later and buddy was pretty unhappy with his purchase and put it away. You would think the ejector would be tuned before it left the factory.....
Too bad you don't like the Rugers because they are probably the most accurate and reliable .22 under $400

If you don't mind used and can find one..a Colt Woodsman is a sweet shooting .22.
If you go with cheap and accurate..your severely limiting your choices.

I've heard on other forums a lot of complaining about the Sig Mosquito. I guess the mags do not feed very well. My wife was very excited about this firearm (saw one at a gunshow in Michigan) but now having second thoughts. Now thinking about Beretta 87 target.

Hey Nine (or anyone else who knows) what does the Glock 22cal conversion (LE kit) sell for? I went to the Police Ordnance website but they don't give prices.

how about the High Standard Models.

when i do a search on the net, most articles say good things about it, but i still have to find good comments from a forum of actual users.

thanks for everything so far. i have heard a lot about the glock convertion kits and that there are a few on the market. what is the BEST to buy and what do i want to stay away from. i love the idea, but have never seen one. however, i have seen the beretta neo and it feels great in my hands. is it accurate and reliable? i am kind of picky when it comes to guns, so i want the best at a good price. i like the beretta model 87???? i think that is it. it looks a lot like an extended beretta pistol, but i haven't shot a .22 pistol in my life. love the feed back so far. thanks again for everyone's input.
