cleaning skulls

boil in water with a little borax until the flesh starts separating from the bone, remove flesh with a presure washer, reboil as required, do not over boil or the skull will separate and the teeth will fall out. when clean, whiten with peroxide while still wet, rinse and repeat, rinse very well and let dry. be very careful while whitening.

Looks good! I had a friend do one for me with the bear I shot last year. I pinned the jaw open about an inch or so and it looks pretty good too. Haven't decided if I'm gonna leave it loose or mount it to a wood plaque or something?

I have a couple on a shelf downstairs. I did a large coyote skull last year. Boy did it ever stink when I boiled it. Once it was covered with peroxide and rinsed the smell went away.
What was the lenght of the skulls?

The skulls are 18 3/4 and 19 1/4, They came from bears that squared 6'4" and 7'2". an old bear on the small skull and a young bear on the larger skull. And NO, do not boil skulls in the house, they can really stink if they are not done right away!!!

My wife didn't care for the bucket with a fish tank heater in it under the deck. Would get an occasional waft of something awful. But the end results are great.
