Doc, or should I say Captain? Ha! Too true though, might as well make it official. I do plan on learning how to butcher and prepare my own meat - another useful skill to have. And y' never know, I just might find myself out in Alberta and take you up on that![]()
Many of us home butcher our game meat. It's easy to learn and adds to the hunting experience. I usually have my parents come over and help. Three generations sit around the table butchering for a few hours makes for some quality time together. Followed by an amazing meal of course!
My kids also know where their food comes from. We may not live off the land like our ancestors did but for a large chunk of the year my kids eat food that was either harvested in the garden or hunted in the forests. They see or share in the process depending on their ages and interests.
