To the people who have these, I'm curious how you use them, and to what effect.
In the rifle matches I shoot, you're not allowed to use one on the firing line during a match, so I've never had any personal experience with them. But sometimes you'll see people off of the firing line holding one up, measuring and recording the wind speed, perhaps cross-checking it with the flags and mirage.
If you've ever shot with one, how well do they work for you? It'd be particularly interesting if you were able to contrast their use with the standard wind flags that are used in known-distance target rifle shooting.
I assume that a handheld wind meter will give much more accurate "read" of the wind speed at the firing point than any other available wind indicator (flags, etc). But while that is perhaps the single most important piece of wind data, there are many other pieces that are also important (all the wind values between you and the target), which can't be measured with a handheld unit.
I guess I am curious to know how much of an extra help they are able to provide...
