annealing newly formed .222 Remington

It might help to see/read the SAAMI standard - Pressure is discussed earlier in the document - how it is to be measured - what SAAMI has set for standard limits for various cartridges - including 222 Rem - on page 66 is two drawings with dimensions - upper is the cartridge lower is the chamber - from SAAMI website this morning - https://saami.org/wp-content/upload...99.4-CFR-Approved-2015-12-14-Posting-Copy.pdf I would imagine anyone is free to make a case different than those sizes, or cut a chamber different then those sizes, but it will no longer be made to SAAMI standard. Note, for example that the 222 Rem has a straight neck on the cartridge - diameter at the shoulder and at the case mouth is the same - but the chamber has a tapered neck - diameter at shoulder is larger than the diameter where the case mouth would be. If you are using store bought commercial rifle and barrels, is probably reasonable to assume they meet SAAMI spec's - if they are "custom" - chamber reamers, sizing die reamers, etc., they may not be to SAAMI standards.

So I won't use IVI brass then without reaming.
IVI brass can be very hard and will likely also have less internal volume. Not to mention crimped primers. With commercial .223 brass so plentiful and completely free for the taking at most gun ranges, I wouldn't mess with that IVI stuff for what you are doing.

I've came to to the same conclusion, as luck would have it I have just about a wheelbarrow full of free Federal.
