Hi,

I put Tempilac (750) on the neck of my brass. Put it in a socket a start spinning it as I heat it.

My problem is that Tempilac is suppose to liquify... Mine is burning !

What am I doing wrong ?

Your not getting the brass up to the correct temperature. Tempilaq will look burnt, in area of lower temp. What temperature rating do you have and what type of case? Give the bottle a shake just to make sure it is consistent.

Yeah I'm pretty sure your not getting the brass up temperature under annealing. Try putting the brass closer to the lighter blue cone one the flame. leave it there until you see the brass start to change to a slight blue or your tempilaq starting to melt away.

Just wanting to confirm that you are putting the tempilac on the inside of the neck , it does not work putting the flame directly on the tempilac.

the flame is a lot hotter than the temperature you are trying to reach and tempilac is just a paint and will burn before the brass heats up
so if you put it inside it should solve your problem

You're over complicating the whole thing. Annealing doesn't require anything other than your propane torch and a pan of tap water. You put the brass into the pan of water, filled to just below the shoulder, heat the necks and shoulders until the brass changes colour(Not to red hot. That's too hot.) and tip 'em over.
Annealing is only done when you get one cracked case mouth too. Pitch that one and anneal the rest. It's not done every time.

Ok tried something that worked yesterday

Painted a strip of tempilac 1/4 inche BELOW the shoulder. Heated the neck and when the heat went down, the Tempilac melted!!!

Now it look like a Lapua brass!!
